Sustainability Gap Analysis

What is a Sustainability Review & Gap Analysis?

A sustainability gap analysis is an assessment that identifies the difference between current practices and those needed to achieve your sustainability goals. It involves comparing the performance of your organisation against established sustainability standards, targets, or best practices to identify areas where improvements can be made.

The analysis typically involves identifying sustainability indicators in areas such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, carbon footprint, biodiversity, social and economic impacts, and governance. These indicators are then assessed against the relevant industry benchmarks or targets. It’s a sustainability health check, tailored to your organisation, location and industry. A Gap Analysis from Good Management requires a small amount of your time. We can work with your existing sustainability teams or if you don’t have a sustainability manager then we’ll guide the relevant people through the process. Following our review, you’ll receive a Gap Analysis Report charting your current performance and a Good Management Sustainability Roadmap that shows where and when improvements can be made to your Sustainability performance.

What is involved in a Sustainability Gap Analysis?

A Sustainability Gap Analysis is the first step to creating your sustainability strategy. At Good Management Group we undertake sustainability reviews and gap analyses in isolation to give our clients and understanding of their current performance. Once this is complete we can then advise on the best course of action for creating, implementing and managing a credible sustainability strategy.

A sustainability gap analysis covers the following work streams:

  • Current Sustainability initiatives and performance.
  • Data analysis – We take an in-depth look at your sustainability data to date.
  • PR, Marketing and Comms analysis
  • Competitor analysis based on 3 industry competitors
  • Stakeholder consultations and surveys – employees, suppliers, clients, investors, senior management, customers.
  • Industry Benchmarking – An idea of what the industry can bring.
  • Sustainability risk and opportunities assessment – The risks and opportunities that your sustainability strategy can bring.
  • Recommendations report – A report showcasing your performance and recommendations for improvements.
  • Sustainability Roadmap – A detailed document charting timelines and actions to generate improvements in your performance.
  • Materiality Assessment – This helps to focus your sustainability strategy into 5 key themes.
